Murray Valley Home Care

Help to stay at home

Support for older people in Melbourne’s north, in their own homes.

Two older people sitting and talking together at home

Personal care

Showering, dressing, and getting ready for the day. Unhurried, and by the same few people so you are not explaining yourself again every week.

An older couple planting seedlings in their garden

Around the house

Cleaning, laundry, changing the bed, the bins, and keeping things where you can find them.

Two older women choosing a product together in a supermarket

Meals and shopping

The weekly shop, the chemist, and preparing meals with you or for you.

Getting to appointments

To the doctor, the specialist, the hospital, the bank. We wait with you and bring you home.

Company and getting out

A walk, the club, church, the shops, or someone to sit and have a cup of tea with. Loneliness does more damage than most people admit.

Support at Home

Personal care, social support, domestic assistance, gardening and transport — delivered under Support at Home packages via your registered provider. We are the supplier; your provider administers the package.

What we do not do

We do not provide nursing or clinical care. If that is what is needed we will say so, and point you to who does it.

How home care is paid for — the honest version

Paying privately

You pay us for the hours you use. No assessment, no waiting list, no paperwork beyond a service agreement. You can start next week, change the hours whenever you like, and stop whenever you like.

Murray Valley Care Group Pty Ltd is not a registered aged care provider, so we do not hold packages ourselves.

Support at Home packages

Support at Home is the Australian Government programme that pays for help in your own home. If you have a package, it is administered by your registered provider — and we deliver the services under it as their supplier: personal care, social support, domestic assistance, gardening and transport. Ask your provider to add Murray Valley Home Care, or ask us to speak to them.

To start, ring My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 or apply at myagedcare.gov.au. They arrange a free assessment, which is what decides what you are funded for. There is usually a wait.

Our honest advice

Ring My Aged Care and start the assessment now, even if you also arrange something privately in the meantime. The wait is the reason to start early, and the assessment costs nothing.

We will explain how the process works over the phone whether or not you ever become a client of ours. Being useful to someone who never signs up is how a provider gets known.
